He's of the colour of the nutmeg. And of the heat of the ginger.... he is pure air and fire; and the dull elements of earth and water never appear in him, but only in patient stillness while his rider mounts him; he is indeed a horse, and all other jades you may call beasts. ~William Shakespeare, Henry V

JESSIE IS OFFICALLY 2

Today was Jessie's second birthday. We had a simple party at Nana's house. My best friend Rainy and her daughter, Eris, came out along with my sister, my brother, Darren, his mother and sister, and of course, my parents. Nana and Auntie Lynnette made a bunny birthday cake. Jessie did really well opening up gifts. She had tearing off paper down pretty good. Cassidy wanted to help (a lot), but she did well at letting Jessie try to open most of the gifts herself. Jessie got a cool glowing teddy bear from dad, some clothes, a book and drawing pad, new snow boots, a horse flashlight, and a ginormous box of Goldfish snack crackers. Rainy also brought out the Christmas presents she had for the girls and I since I did not get to her house before Christmas. She got the girls their own set of John Deere tractor dining sets, bear snack holders, a horse night light that is super awesome, and I got some ornaments for my Christmas tree along with a ceramic boot that I am thinking of putting dried flowers in. I may be missing something that I didn't mention, I don't' mean to leave it out on purpose, but I have had a lot to remember lately and I may have accidentally skipped something.

After the party, Rainy and Eris came out to my house and stayed for a while. Rainy helped me out with a couple of things, I made supper for all of us, and then we sat around and talked for a little while before she had to leave. It was really great being able to talk to her for a while. Yesterday was her 30th birthday party. There was a surprise party for her at the a new bar in Devils Lake, Lotta's. I didn't make it because I was getting ready for Jessie's party.

My Spring classes have started. Things are going good so far. One class is so easy that I have my homework completed up to February 14th. I am hoping to get all of it done, then I will have a lot more time to dedicate towards my very last transcription class that needs a 93% in order to pass the class!! I know I can do it. Have done well so far. Then there is graduation in May....Yippee!

The birthday girl. She doesn't look to impressed in this pic, but she did well.

Here purple snack bear had to have a ride on the horse night light too!

She just sat around smiling and sticking her tongue out at everyone singing Happy Birthday.

What a doll! That cake must be pretty yummy!

I DON'T WEAR A SKIRT, SO WHY SHOULD MY BED

My sister gave me a bed skirt that matches my new white comforter. I thought that was really great since I have one of those new fangled beds that is 3 feet off the ground. It looks dorky to see sheets on the top mattress and then see this bare thing underneath it. I thought it was going to be easy. I was so totally wrong. For those of you that don't know, you do have to take the top mattress off to get the bed skirt on. So....

After much thought, the easiest option for one person was to just push the top mattress off the bed and stand it on-end on the floor at the end of the bed. This worked well. Then, I just tossed the bed skirt on, made sure it looked even and all the corners were straight. Then, as I was pushing the top mattress back over onto the box spring, I came to realize how much of a pain the butt it was going to be to actually get the skirt straight and even. When I dropped the mattress and slid it back into place, it just HAD to take the skirt with it and bunch up between the two mattresses. So, I went to the end of the bed and stuck my arms as far as I could get them between the mattresses and grabbed a hold of the skirt. I pulled it out and made sure it looked even with the floor, and that is when I noticed that it was uneven on the sides. I spent at least 20 minutes going from side to side around the bed gently pulling and tugging on the skirt to get it as even as I could. It is still a little uneven, but I don't think it is going to be noticeable to anyone but me. It is just going to have to be that way for a bit because I am not in the mood to perfect the skirt.
