CLEANING AND THE OPRAH SHOW
I am in the process of cleaning up the house a bit. Darren's mother and sister are coming to visit today. Jessie isn't too sleepy this afternoon so I may not get to the vacuuming or dusting but at least all the junk is picked up and everything is in it's proper place.
It's pretty nice out today but the wind is chilly. I would like to take Cassie out for a bit but my mom is working in the ER today and I don't know when she will be home. Darren may have to take Cassie out tomorrow instead.
I watched Oprah the other day and she is doing this Debt Diet thing. It shows people how much they should be spending from their paychecks towards home, car, food, and other things. It shows how much of your paycheck that you should be putting into savings as well. There is also a script that you read verbatim to your credit card companies and most companies will drop your interest rates dramatically...they can do that but not to many people know about it because they don't like to do it. This one girl had her interest rate dropped from 33% to 15% and this one guy's card company wouldn't do it so he got a hold of a different card company and that company paid off his old card debt and gave him a card with a cheaper rate. You can also sign a contract on the Oprah website and you will get emails and stuff to help keep you goal oriented on getting rid of your debts. They have all sorts of nifty ideas on how to save too. Oprah's financial advisor worked numbers for a family and discovered if the family planned the spending of their money in such a way they will save 1.5 million dollars in 30 years and so far in 6 weeks they have saved close to $9000 already. I am going to check it out and see if I can get good tips for our family.
