WEDNESDAY
Wednesday we got up to Willow City early, around 10am, so Darren and I left the girls with his parents and we went to Bottineau to see Grandma Irma at the funeral home before they moved her to the church in Willow City. It was really tough. We hadn't seen Irma since July 2005. Irma had called the house last Sunday to ask about Jessie and said that she and Grandpa Marvin were planning to come down to York some weekend when the weather was nice to see her. If I would have realized that was the last time we were going to speak to Irma I wouldn't have been so quick to get off the phone and I would have said a whole lot more to her. Darren is still taking it really hard. When we were at the funeral home he got mad and said that her death wasn't supposed to happen yet and he feels guilty because Irma never got to see Jessie except in pictures. I am hoping that in time he feels better and not so guilty about it.
I stayed at the house with the two kids during the funeral because we couldn't find someone to watch Cassie. I was really disappointed because I wanted to go too but with kids sometimes you can't do everything that you would like to. When the service was done Darren came back to the house and picked us up and took us to the Community Hall. My dad went to the funeral and I spoke with him a little bit at the hall. It was nice to see him there and I am glad that he was there for Darren's family. They appreciated it.
After a bit we all went out to the farm. Grandpa Marvin didn't want to start Thank You cards so we all just sat around and talked while the younger kids played. Darren and I spent a lot of time talking with his Uncle Cork and cousin Shawn from Alaska. It was really great to see them because we hardly see them.
We left Willow around 7pm then after we got home Darren had to take off to Harvey. We are still going to Bismarck for the weekend to get away so that will be a lot of fun. I am going to have to find Cassie a new swimming suit because the one she used last summer is small for her now. I will also have to send an email to Darren's sister and find out how warm it's going to be down there so that I can pack clothing for the kids according to the weather.
