GRANDMA IRMA
Darren's mom called Tuesday and said that Darren's grandmother, Irma, was experiencing chest pains last week and his grandfather finally took her to a doctor. Irma had 97% blockages in her heart. Irma was sent to Minot where they were going to do surgery.
Darren's dad called yesterday evening at about 6pm and said that they just had finished surgery on Irma. They were in surgery about 4 hours longer than they expected because Irma also had a valve problem and then had to be hooked up to a pump and then her heart started to beat differently so they had to keep her open and monitor her until the doctors had everything under control and knew she was going to be okay. His dad said that it's probably going to be a really long recovery for Irma and the family is worried about her because older people don't recover from major surgery like younger people do.
I called Darren to let him know how the surgery went and if we don't get too much snow over the weekend and it's not going to storm, Darren is going to go to Minot to see his grandma and visit with his uncle from Alaska who flew into Minot when he heard Irma was having open heart surgery.
