GOODBYE TO GRANDMA IRMA
Darren's father called this morning around 10am. He had gotten a call from the family and said that Irma was doing pretty bad and they were heading back to Minot. Irma's blood pressure dropped very low and now there were problems with the valve in her heart. I am extremely saddened to say that Irma passed away close to 3pm this afternoon.
I only knew Grandma Irma for six years, but in those six years I was blessed to be part of her family and got to know her well. She was a very kind person who attended Sunday church regularly. She would always greet you at the doorstep of the farm with a big smile and always had something kind to say.
Christmas at the farm this year will feel very different without her. She was one of the bigger reasons why everyone got together at the farm on Christmas eve after the church program to eat, gossip, and exchange gifts. I really don't even know what will happen this Christmas.
I have been trying to get a hold of Darren since his dad called me at 10am. Darren's phone isn't working and today is the only day that he isn't riding with another driver. I called one of the drivers to see if they knew where Darren was at and if they could get a hold of him. The driver called the warehouse manager but the warehouse manager said that Darren was already gone. A message was left at the warehouse for Darren to call home and if he doesn't get the message the other driver said that he will tell Darren to call. I feel just awful giving Darren this kind of news over the phone.
I don't know when the funeral is going to be, I am sure sometime this week though. Darren will probably have to take the day off of work to attend.
