He's of the colour of the nutmeg. And of the heat of the ginger.... he is pure air and fire; and the dull elements of earth and water never appear in him, but only in patient stillness while his rider mounts him; he is indeed a horse, and all other jades you may call beasts. ~William Shakespeare, Henry V

SUNDAY...MUCH BETTER THAN SATURDAY

Lynnette got Cassie when Cassie awoke so that I could sleep in a bit more. I woke up shortly after that to Cassie peaking over the side of the bed saying "Hi Mommy". I got out of bed and got myself ready for church. When I was doing that, Auntie Lennie gave Cassie oatmeal and got her ready for church. Five minutes into the church service, some people came in training a seeing eye dog and I thought I was going to have problems with Cassie wanting to run and pet the dog but I didn't. Cassie just said "Dog" or "Puppy" really loudly a few times but not bad. And when the choir was done singing Cassie would say "All done" each time. It was really cute. Cassie was able to pet the dog after church then we went back to Lynnettes so Cassie could nap and have lunch. After Cassie got up, we headed for the Como Zoo. They had some really cool animals and it was actually great for a free zoo. Cassie liked the monkeys and then there was a giraffe that she didn't want to leave and when we were walking away from the giraffe she started to cry but forgot all about the giraffe when she saw the lions and a big tiger sun bathing on a rock. Then there was this really cool polar bear and all he did was fall backwards into the water off this little platform, pushing himself all the way back to the plexi glass, then did a somersault under the water, and then swim underwater back to the platform and then repeat. He did this the whole time we were there. Cassie's eyes were the size of dinner plates when she watched the bear and she laughed every time he fell back into the water. Then on the way out of the zoo we stopped by their carousel so Cassie could have a ride. It's called Cafesjians Carousel, it was built in 1914. The Carousel is 50 feet across the platform and 54 feet at the upper rim and weights 30 tons! There are 68 wood horses and 2 chariots. Even though the carousel is 91 years old, it still has about 80% of the original paint. To check out the carousel yourself, go to www.ourfaircarousel.org This carousel was rescued from a fire and then a NY auction all through donations and all the money that they make from their gift shop and the money from the rides go to pay back the $400,000 loan for the restoration.
